Kwannon - Short Stories From Japan

Under the grey Tokyo skies, strange things happen. A man recognizes Souls of the Dead emerging from within the smoke of a crematorium, whispering compelling, secret messages. Another believes that each time he uses his Japanese seal, a particle of his soul is stripped away, until finally, he loses himself. Unexpected events throw a third person off balance and he suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of the track.

This book of short stories takes on the traditional Japanese circular form. A recurring cycle of events evolves, where the presence of death becomes a daily part of life. The author links the beginning and end of the book, tightly fusing them, like a ring.
